The Somme Then and Now, Let's Explore Together

The 1st July 1916 was to be the bloodiest day in British military history. Below you see the 1st Lancashire Fusiliers waiting to attack from the Sunken Lane. At the end of that day, the battalion counted 163 killed, 312 wounded and 11 missing. This is just one site that can be visited, understood and the men respected for their efforts.
