Are your battlefield tours suitable for children?

Our guides are experts at sharing history with every age group, ensuring history comes to life.  If you would like to combine a battlefield tour with other traditional family activities (theme parks, boat trips etc) we can also include these as part of your tour.

Are your battlefield tours wheelchair accessible?

Yes – when making an enquiry, be sure to let a team member know about your needs to ensure we can do everything to make your tour accessible. Some battlefield locations will be more suitable than others, our expert team will put together the right trip for you, whatever your needs.

What level of fitness do we need for a battlefield tour?

Your battlefield tour is built around you, if you don’t wish to walk too far that’s not a problem.  If you’d like us to build an itinerary based entirely on long walks, we can also do that.

Are there still WW1 trenches to see?

There are still lots of original trenches to see and walk through, fortifications to get inside and bunkers to explore.  Here is a blog I wrote about the best preserved trenches to see.

We’ve got a guidebook – why do we need a battlefield guide?

A brilliant tour guide brings stories to life and transports you back in time so you can really understand history.  The battlefields are exactly that, fields. What happened there needs explaining and that is where a brilliant guide comes in. You’ll learn the meaning behind what you're seeing, not just snap a photo and move on.

Guides maximize your time, no getting lost, no waiting in long lines, no wasted detours. They know the best times to visit top spots, where to eat, and how to avoid the crowds. Private guides can take you to places off-limits to the general public.

Can I book all my travel with Sophie’s Great War Tours?

Yes - as an affiliate of Simplexity Travel Management, we can take care of absolutely everything, whereever you want to travel in the world, be that a cruise, a safari or of course - an amazing battlefield tour.
